My Home Town

I always told everybody that I grew up in a small town in Malaysia, where a lot of people work in paddy field or rubber estate. I used to go biking with a few friends in the neighborhood and messing with the bull and trying to catch those little fish in the river. I was sometimes naughty sometimes well-behaved. My dad would try to hide himself behind the door to wait for me to come home so that he could give me a little spank for coming home late in the evening. I didn't have a watch back then, I used to go back before the sunset. I was a little chicken too, I was afraid of dark. And this, I never tell anybody else (Smile).

They said that my home town was a place where a lot of successful people was raised. When I was a kid, I used to think that it was a myth, but I was gladly to hope that it would be true so that I could be successful one day too. Although a lot of parents were busy with their own work, here, a lot of children my age did not seem like going astray due to lack of attention. We were all nice kids (at least in my eyes), who never say any curse words, we spent times together, talking about our future goal and kept each other motivated. "We would come back to this little town when we become successful one day, unlike others, we would like to keep the origin of this little land!" THAT, was our promises to each other.

Lately, I got in touch with a friend who was one year younger than me, she is married to a man whose parents are both "Datuk" and "Datin". The in-law family seems to love her very much. She has a huge wedding that a lot of girls would be envious about! How did they meet, how did she gets to him... What you should know is, she is a humble girl who is so easy going and very kind hearted. It was not about how she could gets the man, it was all about how could the man not fall in love with her! I think she deserves all the happiness in the world for her being her best self! I wish her the BEST!

Other than her, I have also heard a lot of good things about children whom I grew up with. A lot of them are being so successful in their careers and some of them are married and living in a happy life. Sometimes I think, it is the blessing of the land where we grew up from. And I will never be ashamed of where I come from. And if you ask me one day, I still would tell you that I am a country girl who grew up in a small town where all my best moral and value were cultivated from.

家乡
很远很远
却总是让人觉得
每每谈起她的时候
很靠近
