The Simple Dollar - My Story #2 Early Profit... Lost

My Story
The Road To Financial Armageddon #2: Early Profits … Lost

About #2 Early Profit... Lost.

I was sitting on the couch and tried to think about my own "Early Profit". What was that? Did I ever gain any profit from what I did? Anything? It took me a while to figure it out. But I think I could use some examples in my experiences - GROCERY? =P

Grocery is definitely not gaining any profit, but there is some money spent and you could actually save some money if your money is well spent. Sometimes, you have to believe, wise housewife could save more money that a housewife who doesn't have a financial plan. And these were what I learned:-

1. Kept no records of any sort. When I was a student, I never knew how much I spent on grocery shopping, I just grabbed what I liked to eat, and paid with my debit/credit card. One swipe and left. It was really just that simple. I couldn't understand why would some ppl shop at certain grocery complex and some ppl went to different grocery complex to get the whole grocery list done. I thought it was really ridiculous. When I started to live by myself, I understood there were different price ranged in different grocery complexes, and trust me, it helped to save a lot of money if you had coupons and you knew where is cheaper. Eggs and milk are cheaper at Wal-mart... Breads are cheaper at cost-co... Meats are cheaper at Farmer Market... It took me some time to figure out the right way to shop. And now... I believe same as profit, it takes time to learn. The earlier you learn, the more benefit you would gain from it.

2. Do something productive with the money I made. Something productive... I assume I am doing something productive when I improved my own life from living under some ppl's roof to living by myself and have my own life? :P Of course, it is more than that, I know. I still need more money to do something even more productive than this. Definitely will keep this in mind.

3. Value every asset that I had. I think nobody can say anything about how much I value my asset. My only asset now is my car, of course. I spent every penny that is necessary to keep it updated even if I had to use all my saving. Bc I know, it is important for my work, my income, my life.

I feel a little bit lost when I was reading this entry as I dun feel like I really earn some profit yet. Grrrr...

I gotto keep thinking... What is my profit...?? Could you tell?
